Throughout the year, the Alumni Association hosts many events both on campus and off, for alumni of all ages. We hope you will join us.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29
Green Spring Valley Hunt Club

Owings Mills, MD 21117
Join us as we recognize the following four members of the McDonogh Family who have devoted their time and effort most generously on behalf of McDonogh students, the School, and/or the Alumni or Parents Association.
You are cordially invited to join the McDonogh School Family on Thursday, October 22, 2020, for a virtual Dedication Day Ceremony (formerly Founder’s Day).
In addition to showing gratitude to “those who’ve gone before us” for shaping our School, we will remember those in the McDonogh community who have passed away in the last year.
This in-depth discussion with McDonogh’s Co-Athletic Directors, Mickey Deegan and Matt MacMullan, and teacher-coaches Bridget Collins ’90 and Hakeem Sule ’05 examines the McDonogh athletic program as well as the traditions, spirit, and rivalry that have evolved around the McDonogh-Gilman football game
Join us as the Alumni Association Young Alumni Award is presented to five graduates whose achievements over the last 15 years have positively impacted their profession, community, and/or McDonogh. This year’s recipients include Alison K. Barzyk ’14, Darrius R. Heyward-Bey ’05, Hannah Johnstone Mathis ’09, Kyle B. Vaughan ’12, and Kenneth C. Wayman ’12

The 47th McDonogh-Gilman football game on November 22, 1963, will never be forgotten. Shortly before kick-off, 4,000 fans learned of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, yet the game went on. Tune in to hear Jon Aaron ’72, Andy Beath ’64, Jim Dawson ’64, Janet Mariani Herbert ’83, and Bill Mules ’59 discuss this historical moment and the strength of the McDonogh Family through the decades.
During this season of giving, the McDonogh Alumni Association Outreach Committee invites you to join them for a series of virtual fitness events benefiting the Baltimore community.
The classes are complimentary and participants are invited to make a donation if they are able. Proceeds will be donated to the Maryland Food Bank and the Community Crisis Center to help combat increased food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hear how, after many years in the furniture industry, Executive Chef Josh entered the culinary world, starting as a cook at the Charleston Restaurant and working his way up from there. After earning his MBA, Josh convinced sister Stephanie to leave her NYC law firm to help open Hersh’s. Today, it is one of Baltimore Magazine’s top 50 restaurants.
The fourth installment in the Alumni Association’s A Conversation With... series on March 8, featured Alumni Association president Josh Thomas ’06 and prekindergarten teacher Amy Thomas Drummond ’93. After describing her journey from McDonogh and pursuing a master's degree in French language and civilization, to becoming a member of the McDonogh faculty, Amy shared the challenges and rewards of teaching McDonogh’s littlest Eagles both pre- and mid-pandemic.
While we all would have preferred to convene on campus, McDonogh’s Virtual Reunion Weekend provided a great way for hundreds of alumni across the world to connect! Thank you to all who attended this year’s celebration.
Alumni are invited to view the annual Memorial Day Service via Livestream at 9:00 a.m. Check back for a link to view the event.
