The arts at McDonogh provide laboratory environments where students explore creative and imaginative problem-solving skills at the highest level. Our curriculum embraces the unique ways in which the visual and performing arts, in addition to their own intrinsic value, capture and shape ideas from all the major areas of study in our school. Again and again, the arts provide those “aha!” moments for students when they experience, for themselves, the interconnectedness of things.
We believe that artful experiences are essential to students’ educational practices, for they provide constant opportunities for students to find their unique artistic voice and communicate it through a variety of artistic media. Students have countless opportunities to engage deeply with the arts and learn much about the joy of artistic creation and expression. Equally important, they will also learn much about themselves and their place in the world.
