McDonogh offers one of the finest equestrian programs in the Baltimore area. Along with our varsity riding team, we are one of the few schools in the area to offer horsemanship and riding as part of our Lower School physical education curriculum. Beginning in prefirst, children are taught the basics of riding and grooming and they learn the unwritten lessons animals can teach. After school, private lessons are available to lower, middle and, upper schoolers, along with practice for the seventh and eighth grade and varsity riding team. Throughout the year, McDonogh students compete in regional and national horse shows sanctioned by the United States Equestrian Association, many of which are held on campus. McDonogh's outstanding instruction, horses, and show grounds make it one of the premier hunter facilities around.
