Service Opportunities - Roots Farm - McDonogh School

Service Opportunities

Roots depends on volunteers for the planting, maintenance, and harvesting of crops and the care and feeding of the chickens. Students, parents, alumni, faculty, and friends can be found at the farm after school, on weekends, and in the summer lending a hand to a myriad of chores. Each fall after the harvest, a large group of volunteers pitches in to put the farm to bed for the winter.

Upper School students may earn credit (minimum of nine hours to a maximum of 25 hours) at Roots toward their 40-hour community service requirement. At least one hour of a student's time over the course of the summer must be spent delivering food to a pantry or food bank, or working with the Baltimore SquashWise students who are involved with our Roots program.

Service opportunities are announced as they become available.
