Thursday, April 22

8:00 p.m. | Virtual Reunion Weekend Welcome Event

Virtual Reunion Weekend 2021 kicks off with an exciting event featuring a welcome message from Head of School Dave Farace ’87, remarks from two of McDonogh’s accomplished alumni, and a performance from the Upper School Improv Class! Join us for a fun evening and a fascinating discussion with award-winning journalists Robin Hamilton ’91 and Luke Broadwater ’98.

Friday, April 23

10:30 a.m | Equestrian and Cavalry Reunion
Alumni from the equestrian and cavalry programs are invited to celebrate their history on horseback at this unique event. Hear alumni recall their treasured roles in the semi-military program and relive their experiences through photos from the McDonogh School Archives & Special Collections.

12:00 p.m. | State of the School Address
Members of the McDonogh community are invited to hear from Head of School Dave Farace ’87, President of the Board of Trustees Rob Young ‘86, President of the Alumni Association Josh Thomas ’06, and several special guests. Speakers will share a review of this unique and challenging year as well as school updates and future developments.

1:30 p.m. | A Day in the Life of Hybrid School
When it came to transitioning 1,400 students in three different divisions to virtual school, McDonogh earned high marks. Join Kevin Costa, Director of Innovation and Learning, and Robyn Little, Director of Educational Technology, for a fascinating discussion about the transition to distance learning last spring and the hybrid 5-3-2 model that was established in the fall. Attendees will also get a sneak peek into several current classes and be able to participate in a question and answer session.

3:00 p.m. | Joint Event for the Classes of 1970 and 1971
Members of the Classes of 1970 and 1971 are invited to a joint event in celebration of their 50th Reunion. Faculty member and storyteller Jon Aaron ’72 will facilitate a trip down memory lane and describe campus life today.

4:30 p.m. | Alumni Memorial Service
Gather online for a special service to reflect and remember those in the McDonogh Family who passed away during the year. A special tribute will be paid to all deceased members of the Classes of 1970 and 1971.

5:00 p.m. | Flag Retreat Ceremony
It has been 50 years since the semi-military program ended, but the tradition of lowering the flag continues. Join us as former cadets recreate this treasured ceremony. 

7:00 p.m. | Young Alumni Award Ceremony
Young Alumni Awards are presented to graduates from the past 15 years whose achievements and contributions have positively impacted their profession, community, and/or McDonogh. Join us to celebrate the 2021 recipients:

8:00 p.m. | Individual Reunions for Milestone Classes 
Alumni from Milestone Reunion Classes are invited to individual class parties which will feature special appearances from some of McDonogh’s current and former faculty members!

Participating classes: 2016, 2011, 2006, 2001, 1996, 1991, 1990, 1986, 1985, 1981, 1980, 1976, 1971, 1970, 1966, and 1965.

Saturday, April 24

1:00 p.m. | Honoring the 50th Anniversary of Full Integration
Join us to learn about McDonogh’s pathway to full racial integration, which began in 1959 with the admission of J. Milton Belcher III, under a policy of “gradual integration” and was not complete until 1970 when Black students were admitted in every grade (1-12). Listen as Black alumni recall their experiences over the past 50 years then learn about the School’s plans to launch a learning agenda and ongoing programming to advance equity and move toward justice.

8:00 p.m. | Visual and Performing Arts Alumni Gathering
Alumni who participated in McDonogh's visual and performing arts programs are invited to gather together to hear an update on McDonogh’s current arts program and enjoy an evening of reminiscing with one another and reconnecting with former faculty members.
