Giving More Than We Take: Nick Abrams '26 Gives Back to McDonogh Football

As Nick Abrams '26 looks back on his time at McDonogh, he recalls that he wasn't just developing as an athlete. He was learning something bigger: how to show up for others, how to compete with character, and what it means to be part of something greater than yourself.

A freshman at the University of Georgia — studying finance and playing linebacker for the Bulldogs — Abrams hasn't forgotten where that foundation was built. When the opportunity arose to put his early college earnings to meaningful use, he knew exactly where to direct them: back to McDonogh. His $10,000 gift will outfit the football team in new uniforms starting next season. On Tuesday, May 19, Abrams visited a recent spring football workout to share the good news with the team. He also took the time to honor and thank Head Varsity Football Coach Hakeem Sule '05. It was Coach Sule who pushed him, believed in him, and modeled the kind of person Abrams aspires to be. The gift is as much a tribute to that bond as it is to the School itself.

Abrams' decision to invest in the next generation of McDonogh athletes reflects exactly the spirit the School works to cultivate every day: we give something more than we take.

Every gift to the McDonogh Fund, at any level, has the power to shape a student's experience the way McDonogh shaped Nick's.
