Celebrating Gratitude and the Generosity of Donors

Speakers Harry Schniedwind ‘26 and Upper School Visual Arts teacher Jess Bastidas join Head of School Dave Farace '87.

The second annual Gratitude Dinner, on Sunday, March 29, celebrated the generosity of donors to McDonogh’s scholarship and endowment programs and highlighted how donor support empowers every student to thrive. Guests included the Class of 2026, who were joined by donors, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends in celebrating the generosity that sustains scholarship, strengthens our endowment, and shapes the McDonogh experience in meaningful and lasting ways.

"Many years ago, people I had never met made a decision that changed the course of my life," said Head of School Dave Farace ‘87 in his opening remarks. "At the time, I was deeply aware of that generosity. With perspective, my gratitude has only grown stronger."

He continued, “While scholarships are often the most visible expression of philanthropy, the impact of giving at McDonogh reaches far beyond financial aid. Every student on this campus is touched by the generosity of donors who believe in the transformative power of a McDonogh education.”

The evening also featured powerful reflections from Harry Schniedwind ‘26, a scholarship recipient, and Upper School Visual Arts teacher Jess Bastidas, the beneficiary of the Class of 1956 Faculty and Staff Excellence Award. Their stories brought to life the profound impact of philanthropy at McDonogh.
