On Wednesday, May 21, students in Upper School Moviemaking I and II presented their work at the fourth annual Short Film Showcase. The event featured a series of original short films, each written, directed, and produced entirely by students.
Students took on specific production roles—director, cinematographer, sound designer, editor—and collaborated throughout every stage of the filmmaking process. The final products were a reflection of both individual creativity and collective effort.
The evening also included a panel of judges who evaluated each film in categories such as Best Writing, Best Acting, Best Directing, Best Editing, and Best Sound. Modeled after professional film award shows, the Showcase gives students an opportunity not only to share their work but also to receive recognition for the many aspects of filmmaking.
Congratulations to all of the student filmmakers and actors for their hard work, originality, and dedication. The Showcase continues to be a highlight of the year and a testament to the strength of student storytelling at McDonogh.
