More than 70 of the McDonogh Fund’s most generous donors gathered at the Head of School House for the Orange and Black Society Dinner on Wednesday, May 21. While the rain lingered outside, guests enjoyed a cozy fireside cocktail hour—a fitting backdrop for meaningful conversation and connection. It was a moment to reflect on the profound role philanthropy plays in advancing McDonogh’s mission and to celebrate the people who make that possible.
After dinner, Head of School Dave Farace ’87 thanked donors for their incredible support, and Trustee and Philanthropy Committee Chair Kristin Finkelstein ’03 offered updates and words of appreciation on behalf of McDonogh’s Board of Trustees. With trademark wisdom and warmth, retiring English teacher Wright Abbot closed the evening with heartfelt reflections on his teaching career, sharing how philanthropy at McDonogh affirmed the purpose and value of great teaching while shaping the culture at McDonogh.
