17 Students Selected for 2026 Maryland All-State Ensembles

Congratulations to our seventeen Upper School student musicians—and their supporting teachers and families—who were recently selected to perform in one of the 2026 Maryland All-State Ensembles by the Maryland Music Educators Association (MMEA).

Hundreds of students in grades 7–12 from public and independent schools across the state audition for a coveted spot in one of these premier statewide ensembles each year, which are led by renowned conductors from Maryland and across the United States. All-State Ensembles are "grade-level and content-area specific, with diverse repertoire chosen to showcase these outstanding student musicians."

The following ensembles will include McDonogh students in 2026:

  • Senior Mixed Chorus: Stanley Kabenge '26, Xavier Lester '26, Ni-Ni Manukyan '27, Tise Padonu '27, Emma Robertson '27, Amy Luo '27, Maya Rodriguez '26, and Zechariah Wickham '27 (alternate selection).
  • Senior Treble Chorus: Hannah Berkowitz '26, Ava Duhaney '27, Lyla Kholodenko '28, Claire Seligson '27, and Niara Sherrod '26.
  • Senior Band: Nathan Huang '26.
  • Senior Orchestra: Alicia An '28.
  • Junior Orchestra: Helen Luo '29 and Matt Kuznik '29.

Students selected to participate will spend several days in intensive rehearsals with a nationally recognized conductor before presenting a public performance in 2026. Information for All-State concert tickets for public sale will be available in mid-late January on the MMEA website.
