Making Gifts Matter with the $50K in May Challenge

Today, Wednesday, May 15, marks the midway point of the McDonogh Fund $50K in May Challenge and, thanks to the participation of our generous community, we are currently pacing to exceed our goal! To date, we have raised $36,532 from 106 donors.

The idea for the month-long challenge was introduced by McDonogh parents, Marlene and Steven Wolchinsky P’22. They wanted a way to help rally the McDonogh community and generously offered to match each new gift, dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000, toward the McDonogh Fund during the month of May.

The Wolchinskys say their philanthropy stems from their belief that it is only the giving that makes you what you are. Steven adds, “Second to feeding the children of the world, there is no more important cause than educating our children, and no better place that we have ever seen to do that than McDonogh.”

McDonogh Fund Director Tyler Ebeling notes, “Passionate parents, like the Wolchinskys, help us fulfill our mission and prepare our students for the future. The McDonogh Fund ensures that students receive an unparalleled education rich in academics, innovation, arts, and athletics. Every gift, no matter how big or small, helps support these efforts.”

The $50K in May Challenge will run through May 31. To learn more about the challenge and make a gift, please click here or find us on Venmo @mcdonoghfund (please include your name and class year or child’s class year, if applicable, in the comments field).

We are grateful to the Wolchinskys and our supportive McDonogh community.
