McDonogh’s Class of 2021 officially became upperclassmen at the annual Junior Pin Ceremony on Sunday, October 6. The evening began with a casual advisory dinner in Paterakis Dining Hall, after which students spilled onto the Ritter Terrace for photographs. The junior class then processed into the Ceres M. Horn Theatre for the ceremony, which included remarks from Junior Class Dean Libet Ottinger and Class President Jacob Rheingold, followed by a slideshow of memories created by Kailin Hawes and Sarah Talbert. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of gold McD lapel pins by Head of Upper School Merritt Livermore, Associate Head of School Kate Mueller, and Head of School Dave Farace. At the conclusion of the evening, Livermore, who graduated from McDonogh addressed the junior class, encouraging them to wear their pins with pride.
