A Day of Hope
The third grade celebrated the 11th annual "Day of Hope" on Thursday, October 24 by carrying on the tradition of making blankets for the Red Devils, an organization that supports the needs of cancer patients and their families. Earlier this year, inspired by the book Shoeshine Girl by Clyde Robert Bulla, they raised the funds for the fleece fabric by holding a shoeshine stand. Some fifth graders joined in on the blanket making fun and together the students traced, cut, and tied a large pile of blankets. The blankets, known fondly as "Blankets of Hope," will be donated to the Red Devils in November and then shared with patients in need.
