Blankets of Hope - Traditions - McDonogh School

Blankets of Hope

The Blankets of Hope project begins early in the school year when third graders earn money through their shoeshine stand. The funds are used to purchase piles of brightly colored fleece, which the students turn into hand-tied blankets. During a chapel in late fall, the lower school gathers to reflect on hope and courage. Then, blankets are presented to members of the McDonogh Family who are fighting cancer as well as to the Red Devils, an organization that provides support to breast cancer patients.
