Sherri Voelkel - Retired Faculty & Staff - McDonogh School

Sherri Voelkel

10 Years of Service (2016–2026)

After 10 years of dedicated service to McDonogh, Chief Financial Officer Sherri Voelkel is preparing to trade her spreadsheets and budget planning for reading and relaxation as she begins her well-deserved retirement.

Mrs. Voelkel came to McDonogh in 2016 with 30 years of finance experience and quickly developed a genuine love for this place, the mission, and the people in it. She made the numbers work so that everything else could.

Her strategic leadership has strengthened the School's foundation in countless ways, from long-term financial planning and benefits restructuring to enhancing our endowment management structure. She has been a true partner to our philanthropy and admissions teams in advancing key institutional priorities and has provided thoughtful financial oversight of our equestrian operation, food program, and growing auxiliary programs. In addition to her daily responsibilities, Mrs. Voelkel has also served on several Boards and committees, ensuring that McDonogh had a voice at the table on key issues affecting independent schools locally and nationally.

Beyond the numbers and the strategies, she has been a trusted colleague whose warmth, wisdom, and sense of humor have made our community better.

Sherri, thank you for making a lasting impact on McDonogh. We hope the number one thing you calculate in retirement is hours of downtime.
