Roots Farm Officially Partners With Maryland Food Bank

McDonogh’s Roots Farm has been officially designated by the Maryland Food Bank as a Farm to Food Bank farm. As such, Roots Farm joins a network of 73 farms across the state in a partnership to provide hungry Marylanders with fresh, local produce.

Farm Director Sharon Hood said, “It has taken us many years to get this recognition. Last year, Roots Farm donated 2,000 pounds of food, and we are looking to expand outside the farm next year to increase our produce donation to 5,000 pounds.”

A Maryland Food Bank sign was installed at the farm’s entrance to show that Roots is a proud member of the “Farm to Food Bank Network.” Hood added, “We are committed to feed the hungry with fresh produce and ‘to do the greatest possible amount of good.’”
