MediaForward Conference to Connect Students with Experts


Are you passionate about movies? Do you want to break into the industry? Have you dreamed about being behind the camera?

Baltimore area high school and college students with an interest in audio, video, and media technologies are invited to MediaForward 2018 on Saturday, March 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at McDonogh School and the studios of Maryland Public Television.

MediaForward is designed to introduce area students to the many exciting possibilities of a career in the media engineering fields. Held in partnership with the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE) and Loyola University, participants will learn about of the future of media in film, television, and streaming from industry technology leaders. Students attending the conference will also have the opportunity to network with professionals working in the field.

“This is Hollywood coming to our front door,” says McDonogh senior Jack J. one of the coordinators of MediaForward. “Professionals who have worked with the likes of directors James Cameron and George Lucas will be on hand to share their knowledge. And, they will demonstrate new and exciting equipment now being used, such as 4K cameras.”

The expo will also include a field trip to the studios of Maryland Public Television (MPT) where participants will tour control rooms, transmitters, and other facilities.
