Battle O' Baltimore a Great Start for McDonogh Robotics

For the fifth consecutive year, McDonogh hosted the Battle O’ Baltimore, a FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics off-season competition sponsored by the Maryland Robotics Alliance. The all-day event took place in the Rollins- Luetkemeyer Athletic Center on Saturday, September 22, with 30 high school robotics teams from all over the region coming together to compete in FIRST® POWER UP, the 2018 FIRST Robotics Competition game. The goal o' the Battle O' Baltimore is to provide an event where new teams, new drivers, and new members to the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) community are welcome and can engage in friendly competition. It has quickly become one of the premiere off-season competitions on the East Coast. McDonogh’s own robotics team was a part of the third-seeded alliance for the playoff rounds. The alliance won its quarterfinal match but was ultimately defeated in the semi-finals. It was an invaluable learning experience that will help prepare the team for the Brunswick Eruption competition in November.
