Soccer Teams Take Championships


McDonogh fans had a tough decision to make when it came to which championship soccer game they would attend on Sunday evening, November 5. It would not be possible to watch the boys play at Anne Arundel Community College at 5:30 p.m. and to get to the girls championship game at Stevenson University at 6:30 p.m. Spectators at both games saw thrilling action and championship victory.

Boys Soccer: McDonogh captured the MIAA A Conference Championship crown by defeating Mount Saint Joseph with a score of 2-0. According to the Baltimore Sun, it was the Eagles’ ninth title since the league was formed in 1995. Read more in the Sun .

Girls Soccer: The No. 2 Eagles battled Mercy for the championship crown and went scoreless for almost the entire game. With less than 50 seconds left to play, McDonogh scored the only goal of the game on a header and the girls took back the IAAM championship crown. Read the exciting details here.
