McDonogh Veteran Speaks at Assembly

Major Dee Drummond ’96 was invited by McDonogh’s Support Our Troops Club to speak to the Upper School about his experience in the U.S. Army Reserves at a Veteran’s Day assembly on Friday, November 10. Major Drummond told the students that he joined the Reserves in 2003 because he wanted to help people. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2005 where he served for 15 months. He shared that during his deployment he and the other servicemen and women treasured the cards and letters they received from people at home.

He also said that when people thank him for his service, his response is, “You are worthy. Our country is worthy.”

The Support Our Troops Club has provided advisories with the contact information of McDonogh alumni currently serving in the military so they may write to them.
