Student Success at Model UN

Thirteen Upper School students spent the past weekend discussing, debating, and learning the joys and frustrations of international diplomacy while attending the Model UN Conference and Exposition at Columbia University in New York City. More than 700 students from 53 schools in the United States, Canada, and Latin America attended this conference which ran from January 14 to 17.

Three McDonogh students were among the award winners whose names were announced during the closing ceremony on Sunday. Sophia L. '17 won a Verbal Commendation for her role as Isidro Goma Y Tomas, Archbishop of Toledo, in the Spain in Flames, 1936 Committee about the Spanish Civil War. Saleh S. '17 and Lexi S. '17 won Honorable Mention for their role as the Mayor of Cochabamba, in the Bolivian Crisis of 2003.

Congratulations to these students who worked so hard to prepare for their roles and who represented their school so diplomatically!
