Students Hone Skills at Model UN Conference in NYC

A delegation of McDonogh students honed their skills of negotiation and compromise at Columbia University's Model United Nations Conference (January 15-18). The annual international affairs event is known for its original committees, intense crisis simulations, dedicated staff, and focus on introducing its delegates to both Columbia and New York City.

Students spent the weekend discussing and debating topics on international diplomacy ranging from issues related to the Mexican Revolution of 1911 to those of the World Health Organization today. Noemie N. '15 was recognized in the closing ceremonies for her creative strategies in the committee "Korea: The Kingdom of Gold, 668 BCE," and Matt B. '15 won a Verbal Commendation for his role as Michel Doukeris in the committee "An Extraordinary Meeting of the Board of Directors and Top Management of Anheuser-Busch InBev, 2015."

McDonogh’s other 2015 Model UN Delegates included Rachel C. '15, Caroline L. '15, Lexie S. '15, Greer B. '16, Meghan M. '16, Michael P. '16, David S. '16, Nadia U. '16, Harry V. '16, Samira C. '17, Sophia L. '17, and Saleh S. '17.
