Senior Awarded for Intel(ligence)

Congratulations to Jack C. ’15 on being named a semifinalist in the Intel Science Talent Search 2015, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious pre-college science and math competition, which is a program of the Society for Science & the Public. The competition encourages students to tackle challenging scientific questions and to create technologies and solutions that will improve life. The competition included more than 1,800 entrants hailing from 460 high schools. As a semifinalist, both Jack and McDonogh received a $1,000 award from Intel.

Jack’s independent research, which earned him a spot in the semifinalist pool, involved organic solar cell fabrication. In his study, Jack developed a cost- efficient technique of inking and stamping organic solar cells. As a result of the reduced production cost using this process, fabrication of the cells will ultimately increase the availability of solar energy.
