McDonogh Debaters Win Early Bird Contest
Just days into the 2015-2016 school year, members of McDonogh’s debate
team
and their coach Daryl Burch travelled to Winston Salem, NC for the annual Wake
Forest Early Bird Tournament. Held during Labor Day weekend, the tournament
attracted more than 120 teams from approximately 20 states. After six
preliminary rounds, 32 teams, including McDonogh, competed for the championship.
Congratulations
to juniors Ryan J. and Nishad N. who exceeded expectations by beating Georgia's
Westminster Academy in a 2-1 decision to win the tournament. Not
only did they win the championship, Ryan was named 15th speaker overall.
