McDonogh Community Mourns the Loss of Will Hauver ’11

We are saddened to share the news that Will Hauver, a member of the Class of 2011, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 2 from complications related to an illness. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his parents, Lyndall and Bob, and his siblings, Megan and Tommy.

Will entered McDonogh in the third grade, and he immersed himself in every facet of school life until the day he graduated. From the classroom to the art studio to the athletic field, he was fully engaged and fully present. Above all, Will was genuinely kind and compassionate, and his sense of humor and smile would light up any room.

Will was a senior at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, where he was majoring in communication studies. He was also a senior captain for the school’s lacrosse team.

A memorial service took place in the Ceres M. Horn Theatre on Saturday, February 7. For those who were unable to attend, a recording of the service is available online. In lieu of flowers, the Hauver family has asked that gifts be made to the William L. Hauver '11 Memorial Fund at McDonogh School; the Will Hauver Memorial Scholarship at Rollins College; or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

We are gathering memories and photos of Will for the Hauver family. If you would like to share a memory, please email alumni@mcdonogh.org. If you include a photograph, please also provide an accompanying caption.
