Award Winning Student Video Hits the Big Screen

Watch out, Hollywood! Claire N. ’17 won first place at the 12th Annual Friends School Video and Animation Festival in two categories: Short Video and Audience Favorite. She will be receiving two statuettes for her video called, Sixteen, a black and white, self-portrait piece which was selected from 39 entries submitted by students from six area schools. Claire made the film as a Photography 1 assignment and her teacher Camille Gustus suggested she submit it to the annual festival. "It was dynamic and I was blown away," says Gustus.

Claire’s video was also selected to be screened at the Baltimore High School Film Festival (BHFF) at the Charles Theatre on Saturday, June 6. The BHFF is an annual juried film festival featuring the work of Maryland high school students. The festival is from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and is free.
