Football Under the Lights Tonight

McDonogh's first Friday night home game will be played tonight, under the lights in John McDonogh Stadium against St. Joseph Regional High School (NJ). Prior to the game at 7:00 p.m., McDonogh fans, families and friends will fill the stands for a brief ceremony to thank Darrius Heyward-Bey ’05 for his generous donation of permanent stadium lights.

Heyward-Bey '05, currently a wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will be on hand for the celebration and to see his dream of “Friday Night Lights” at McDonogh become a reality. Darrius's donation was the result of a promise he made to Athletic Director Mickey Deegan in his senior year at McDonogh. At the time he told her, "Ms. Deegan, when I go pro I'm going to buy you some lights ... because night games are what high school football is all about."
