Battle O' Baltimore Robotics Tournament: Saturday

Hundreds of high school students (and their robots) from 32 schools in Maryland and surrounding states will compete in the Eighth Annual Battle O’ Baltimore robotics tournament at McDonogh on Saturday, September 20. The McDonogh Eagles Robotics Team, coached by Upper School computer science and robotics teacher Kim Smith, is proud to host this action-packed event, one of the east coast’s premier FIRST® Robotics Competition off-season tournaments.

Teams will maneuver their 120-lb. custom-built robots as they compete in a game created by FIRST (For Inspiration And Recognition of Science and Technology) that combines fast action, close contact, tough defense, dramatic buzzer beaters, strategic assists, and awe-inspiring shots on goal! The robots will be guided by a combination of custom software and human drivers operating them remotely.

Spectators will be thrilled by the excitement on the playing field and inspired by the ingenuity of the students that have built these amazing machines. Student Ambassadors will also be available to give guided tours of the "pits" (close-toe shoes are required and safety goggles will be provided). Demonstrations of all of FIRST's K-12 programs will be on display as well.

The action will take place in the Rollins-Luetkemeyer Athletic Center. Come by and check it out:
