Celebrating the 1975 Varsity Football Champions

The captains of McDonogh’s 1975 Championship varsity football team, together with the Class of 1976 Reunion Committee, welcomed classmates back to campus on Saturday, November 1 for a special luncheon before the 109th annual McDonogh vs. Gilman football game. More than 60 alumni and guests gathered at Roots Farm, where they enjoyed a perfect fall afternoon filled with camaraderie, laughter, and fond memories before cheering on the Eagles.

Head of School Dave Farace '87 greeted attendees and shared words of welcome. The event also featured remarks from Doug Silber ’76, Kip White ’76, and Leroy Katz ’76—co-captains of the 1975 championship team—as well as longtime coach Jerry Pfiefer. In addition, Sharon Hood spoke about Roots Farm’s mission and its evolution into a thriving 10-acre outdoor classroom that continues to enrich the McDonogh community.

At halftime, the championship team received a special on-field tribute. Team members in attendance were recognized at the 50-yard line, honoring their legacy and celebrating 50 years of McDonogh pride.
