A week of soggy weather forced the Lower School Closing Ceremony on Friday, May 30 inside the Rollins-Luetkemeyer Athletic Center, but that did not dampen the spirit of the occasion.
Representatives from each Lower School grade processed into the venue with their current class banner, followed by the Drum Corps and the fourth grade class. Students, families, and friends enjoyed welcome remarks and musical interludes, as well as memories and advice from the fourth graders.
Following the presentation of certificates by Fleury and Head of School Dave Farace '87, the Class of 2033 received warm hugs from the teachers who nurtured and guided them on the first part of their McDonogh journey. Next, the exchange of banners signified the moment when the younger students were officially promoted to the next year’s grade. The ceremony ended with the joyful tossing of the blazers by the rising fifth graders.
