Old and New World Explorations
Ann Whitman Hurd likes to give her sixth grade Spanish language students some context for the language they are learning. Part of that is delving into the histories of the "old" and "new" worlds and understanding how they influenced and shaped each other. On Thursday, October 22, she led her students on an expedition to Roots, where Famer Hood explained the origins of the crops and livestock grown on the farm. After understanding the impact that new world crops had on old world cuisine, Chef Staley taught the class how to make fresh paella. Who knew learning could be so delicious?
