McDonogh Goes Green Holds Rally

In solidarity with students from across the globe, hundreds of upper and middle schoolers participated in a rally on the Campus Green on Friday, September 20. Student speakers from the McDonogh Goes Green Club encouraged participants to take action by working to make the school and the world a more environmentally friendly place. Club member Leena Rai explained, “We are at a delicate crossroads where our global actions can determine the future and longevity of our planet, and us along with it. The issue is unique to our generation because we are the ones who will see and suffer the effects.”

Students, faculty, and staff pledged their support for the effort by signing a banner that reads: McDonogh Goes Green. Prior to the rally, students met with Environmental Sustainability Expert Sam Kosoff and brainstormed about what can be done at McDonogh. Later in the day, upper schoolers held a discussion on climate, its global effects, who is responsible for change, how they can educate others, and how they can enact change.
