Eighth Grade Bay Trip: A Middle School Milestone

Kissing fish, pulling crabs from the Bay, beautiful sunsets, and getting caked in mud are a few of the rites of passage experienced by eighth graders on the annual Chesapeake Bay trip. Students spent part of the week of October 21 learning from Chesapeake Bay Foundation educators about one of Maryland’s most treasured resources. They explored and were awed by their discoveries on the water and in the marshes of Port Isobel (East and West) and on Smith Island. The trip, a highlight of Middle School, is an opportunity for students to learn about the ecology, environment, and economics of the Bay, as well as little bit about themselves.
