Annual Bay Trip Teaches Countless Lessons

For three days and two nights during the week of October 15, the eighth grade explored the Chesapeake Bay—Maryland’s most precious natural resource. The annual Bay Trip, now in its 36th year for McDonogh students, is a highlight of the Middle School experience. Led by educators from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, students traveled to Smith Island, Fox Island, Port Isobel East, and the Karen Noonan Education Center one of the largest tidal wetlands on the East Coast. They learned about the ecology, environment, and economics of the Bay, as well as a little bit about themselves. Read a reflection on the experience by Yomi A. here.
