Joy at Lower School Closing

Joy is the best word to describe the Lower School Closing Ceremony on Friday, June 1, on Childs Memorial Terrace. Before the festivities began, fourth graders and their teachers enjoyed a breakfast during which students were presented with a McDonogh pin. When the ceremony began, prekindergarten through grade three processed down the hill with their class banners followed by the Fourth Grade Drum Corps and the Class of 2026. Students and guests alike enjoyed listening to favorite memories and advice from the soon-to-be middle schoolers. After being presented with certificates of achievement, there were hugs and handshakes. Then, before much-anticipated “tossing of the blazers” retiring Headmaster Charlie Britton was presented with a hat created by the PK students and a collage of memories spelling the word JOY!
