Farm Chores Benefit Many

When the second and ninth grades met at Roots Farm on Wednesday, October 11, they were prepared to help with chores, but little did they know how many different lives they would touch. Working together, some students harvested “imperfect” pumpkins, beans, and peppers, while others cut fresh flowers. The pumpkins will be enjoyed by the pigs at Whistle Pig Hollow Farm, the beans will be served in the dining hall, the peppers are being donated to the Maryland Food Bank, and the flowers have become centerpieces on the tables at Blakehurst, a retirement community in Towson. When they weren’t harvesting, students learned about the food bank and made cards filled with well wishes.
