Coed Sports Camps

The All Sports Camp (Ages 8-15)

Ages: Boys and Girls 8 to 15
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (M-F)
Dates: Session 1: June 22 to July 10
Session 2: July 13 to July 31
Tuition: $1,335 per session; $2,470 for both sessions

Research shows that the modern day athlete benefits from participating in a variety of sports.  Each day, All-Sports campers engage in a rotating schedule of sports with other kids their age. These sports include soccer, basketball, baseball, flag football, floor hockey, volleyball, disc golf, and more.  Camp also includes daily swimming and field trips. The highlight of each week is our Color War in which campers compete in exciting team events. 

Former and current college athletes teach game fundamentals, encourage friendly competition, and reinforce the value of spirit and sportsmanship.

Sessions are three weeks each, but campers may attend for one to two weeks at a prorated cost. Please contact the Camp Office (443-544-7100) if you wish to register for partial sessions or add additional weeks to an existing session.

McDonogh Tennis Camp: Beginner (Ages 6-12)

Ages: Boys and Girls 6 to 12
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (M-F)
Dates: Weekly: June 22 to July 31
Tuition: $375 weekly
4th of July Week (June 29 to July 2): $300

The McDonogh Tennis Beginners Camp, directed by long-time Tennis Camp staffer Ben Rabin, is designed for beginners of all ages. Conducted on our brand new 17-court facility, the program teaches players the techniques for success in this lifetime sport. Group and individual instruction will allow each player to reach his or her potential. Students will be able to set their own goals.

Instruction in injury prevention, tennis etiquette, and personal motivation will be a prominent component of the daily routine. In addition, each camper will enjoy a daily period of free swim prior to lunch.

McDonogh Competitive Swim Camp (Ages 9-14)

Ages: Boys and Girls 9 to 14
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
Dates: Session 1: June 22 to June 26
Session 2: June 29 to July 2 (4th of July week) 
Tuition: Session 1: $410; Session 2: $330

The McDonogh Competitive Swim Camp will take place in the Henry A. Rosenberg, Jr. Aquatic Center, in our state of the art 50 meter pool. The camp is designed for swimmers from either summer league teams or YMCA/USA swim teams. Please note that this is not a "learn-to-swim" camp, as the entire camp is run in the deep end of the competition pool.

Directed by McDonogh Head Varsity Swim Coach Scott Ward and Asst Director Clarke Nyman, the camp is designed to teach, drill, and train the individual fundamentals of competitive swimming. Specific drills will be taught to aid skill developments in all four competitive strokes, along with instruction on starts and turns. Underwater video recording and review will also be utilized in teaching the swimmers.

McDonogh Fencing Camp (Ages 7-14)

Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Dates: Session 1: July 6 to July 10 
Session 2: July 13 to July 17
Session 3: July 20 to July 24
Session 4: July 27 to July 31
Tuition: $410 per session

McDonogh Fencing Camp offers instruction in the sport of fencing from beginner through advanced levels. Fencing, an Olympic and NCAA sport, is often described as a combination of boxing and chess. Each day will incorporate periods of fencing-specific instruction, drills, and bouting (sparring), as well as general physical activities, exercises, and games which enhance fencing ability and performance. Participants will learn how to stand, move, attack, and defend, as well as terminology, rules, etiquette, refereeing, and how to keep equipment in good repair. Each week will conclude with a tournament. Instruction will touch on the three fencing events (foil, saber, and epee), but the majority of instruction will be in epee.

Coach Greg Paye has been fencing for 30 years, and is the head coach and owner of Maryland Fencing Club. He is certified Prevot by the US Fencing Coaches Association, a professional member of USA Fencing, and a certified referee. His students have medaled in national tournaments and earned national standings in youth and senior age categories. His professional experience includes Johns Hopkins University, Goucher College, Boston University, DC Fencers' Club, and Boston Fencing Club.

Yoga Training (Ages 9-14)

Ages: Boys and Girls 9 to 14
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Dates: July 20 to July 24
Tuition: $410 

This one of kind yoga camp is directed by 500-hour trained yoga teacher Beth MacMullan. Campers will learn and then be able to teach: yoga poses, communication, leadership, and teaching skills, breathing techniques for calming and relaxation, systems of the body, nutrition, and how to create and offer a yoga class. In addition to increased strength and flexibility, campers will gain confidence, focus, and awareness.

By the conclusion of camp, participants will be able to share yoga with others at places such as school, in the community, with scouts, or at family gatherings, etc.  Each day will include yoga, relaxation, games, and art. Students will also receive a manual at the end of the week to take home with them.

McDonogh Competitive Details Swim Camp (Ages 11-15)

Ages: Boys and Girls 11 to 15
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Dates: July 14 to July 16 (Three-day camp)
Tuition: $240

Led by McDonogh Coaches Scott Ward and Clarke Nyman, swimmers will focus on improving their starts, turns, and finishes for all the competitive strokes plus the individual medley. Video review of Olympian's technique will be utilized in addition to classroom discussions on mental training, race prep and post-race evaluations plus race strategy techniques.
