Eighth Grade Celebrates at Closing Ceremony

Dodging cicadas on a warm summer morning, the 117 members of the Class of 2025, Middle School faculty and administrators, family, and friends gathered at Childs Memorial Terrace for the 2021 Eighth Grade Closing Ceremony. After opening remarks, student speaker Chase Borz reflected on how he and his classmates have benefitted from the friendships, happiness, school spirit, independence, confidence-building, and teamwork that have been part of their McDonogh experience. He was followed by Ashley Ince who looked ahead and encouraged the Class of 2025 to take chances and embrace the many opportunities the Upper School offers.

Prior to the presentation of certificates of achievement to the eighth graders, Head of Middle School Kristy Lundstrom reminded the class that although they had only enjoyed the new Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Middle School building for 28 days, they had come a long way in the last four years from the basement of Finney to the halls of Keelty. The Monday, June 7 ceremony concluded with a rendition of the Dedication Hymn by the McDonogh Singers.
