Why did you choose the subject area that you teach?

I have always been passionate about U.S. history and particularly Black History. It is rewarding to give students the motivation and tools to learn about the world they live in.

How do you connect with and engage students in the learning process?

I feel that I can relate to students and work to experience information with them instead of just lecturing and having them regurgitate the information back at me.

Beyond the classroom, what are some of your interests or hobbies?

Reading and taking notes, believe it or not, is refreshing to me and keeps me grounded. They are some of my most passionate moments.

What are some of your favorite books, movies, or quotes that inspire you?

My favorite book is Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison.

Do you have a favorite place on campus? What makes it your favorite?

I love Paterakis Hall, mainly because of the tables.
