Lower School Closing Ceremony - McDonogh School

Lower School Closing Ceremony

The Lower School Closing Ceremony on Childs Memorial Terrace not only marks the advancement of the fourth grade to Middle School, it recognizes the other children moving up a grade. The ceremony begins with prekindergarten through grade three processing down the hill behind their class banners, followed by the Fourth Grade Drum Corps and their classmates. During the ceremony, students and guests alike enjoy listening to favorite memories and advice from the soon-to-be middle schoolers. After being presented with certificates of achievement, the fourth graders make their way through a receiving line of Lower School faculty for hugs and handshakes. The ceremony ends with the much-anticipated “tossing of the blazers.”
