A Conversation With Brandon Etheridge ’03

Brandon Etheridge ’03, General Counsel for the Baltimore Ravens, was the first speaker in the Alumni Association’s new series of interview-style webinars. The conversation, hosted by Jason Schwartzberg '99 on October 29, included a lively discussion about Etheridge’s days at McDonogh, his time at Yale University and Harvard Law School, and his career in sports law, including his current position with the Ravens.

Etheridge described McDonogh’s impact on his life saying that his educational experiences instilled confidence, built character, ignited a desire to do good, and made him well-rounded. Most importantly, he said his teachers and coaches at McDonogh taught him to always bring his best—a lesson that prepared him well for college, graduate school, and a successful career.

Before taking questions from attendees, Etheridge offered words of advice. He said that while having mentors to help hone your craft and think strategically about how you want to approach your goals, “you must seize opportunities and take accountability for your own success.” He added, “Even though the path doesn’t look straight, it doesn't mean you're going backward, it doesn't mean you're taking a false step, it doesn't mean you're taking a route that's going to take you so much longer to get there... it's just another step on the journey."
