Operation Senior Signs a Success

From the crack of dawn until the dark of night on Friday, April 24, a stealth team of operatives directed by their GPS, drove hundreds of miles twisting and turning through neighborhoods in the Baltimore metropolitan area and beyond. At each of their more than 160 stops, team members, wearing a uniform of orange and black, jumped out of their cars and placed yard signs by the front doors of McDonogh seniors’ homes. The agents were part of Operation Senior Signs.

“The school knows it's been difficult for seniors to be apart from each other and sympathizes with their disappointment over the loss of special spring memories. This was a special way to honor them and celebrate their hard work and accomplishments,” says the coordinator of the top-secret operation who adds, “We will continue to find meaningful ways to recognize their hard work and accomplishments.”

Throughout the day on Friday, the surprise brought joy to the members of the Class of 2020 and their families when they discovered the signs which read, “We’re proud of you! Keep soaring.”

As one grateful parent said, “I applaud your thoughtfulness and caring. It actually made both of us cry.”

Thanks to all the parents who have shared pictures. It’s not too late. If you would like your McDonogh senior’s picture included in this photo essay, send it to mbower@mcdonogh.org
