A Sweet Lesson
It was a sweet, if somewhat sticky, day in Kirk Robertson's fifth grade science classes on Monday, September 16. With Robertson's help, students harvested honey from the hives kept on Roots Farm. First, Roberston very carefully cut off the wax caps that contain the honey and students helped remove any excess wax. Then students removed the honey from the combs using centrifugal force. After straining out any remaining wax, students had the chance to taste the fruits of their labor. In the afternoon, Kindergarteners were able to join in on the fun.
