Blankets Provide Hope and Courage

Empathy was the message of the afternoon during the Blankets of Hope chapel on Friday, November 17. The chapel was the culmination of a third grade project that began with the summer reading assignment, The Shoeshine Girl by Clyde Robert Bulla. Like the girl in the story, the third grade held a shoeshine stand to raise money to buy the fleece material for their Blankets of Hope. During the chapel, students reflected on hope and courage and then presented the blankets to members of the McDonogh Family who are fighting cancer. They also contributed 40 hand-tied blankets to the Red Devils, an organization that provides support to breast cancer patients. See more here.
