McDonogh Premier Soccer Program:
Girls Summer Camp


Ages: Girls 6 to 12
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

McDonogh Soccer Camp for Girls is directed by Assistant Varsity Soccer Coach Mary Beth Todd and Assistant Camp Director James Haslip of Baltimore Celtic. Campers will also have the opportunity to be coached by McDonogh Girls Varsity Head Coach Harry Canellakis and McDonogh Boys Varsity Coach Brandon Quaranta, a U.S. Womens Soccer Training Center Evaluator. Other staff will include local high school and club coaches as well as high school and college players.

McDonogh Soccer Camp for Girls is designed for soccer players of all levels and is structured around the fundamentals that established McDonogh’s nationally-ranked girls program. Younger players will be provided basic skills, techniques, and simple game concepts. The more elite players will learn the core technical and tactical principles that identify McDonogh Soccer. Each camper will have fun learning the game and acquiring skills that will help them reach their soccer potential.


McDonogh Premier Soccer Program: Half-Day Tennis/Half-Day Soccer

Ages: Girls 6 to 12
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: June 26 to June 30
Tuition: $325

This camp is designed to give participants an opportunity to play both sports within one week. Under the direction of our Tennis Camp Director, Ben Rabin, and our Soccer Camp Director, Mary Beth Todd, players will attend the General Skills Tennis Camp in the morning, enjoy lunch in our air-conditioned dining hall, and then transition to the Soccer Camp in the afternoon.


McDonogh Premier Soccer Program: Position Camps

Ages: Girls 11 to 18
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: July 10 to July 14
Tuition: $325

Directed by Harry Canellakis, McDonogh Girls Varsity Head Coach, campers will work on the functional skills associated with their position. After beginning each day studying video of their position, players will go out to the field and work with a professional coach and a mentor (a McDonogh graduate who has played at the highest level of Division I soccer in their position). During afternoon scrimmages, campers will apply the skills they have learned. Staff will include Mary Beth Todd, McDonogh Girls Varsity Assistant Head Coach and Dave Stockum, UMBC Assistant Coach and ECNL Coach for Maryland United FC.


McDonogh Premier Soccer Program: Girls Goalkeeper Camp

Ages: Girls 8 to 16
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: July 17 to July 21
Tuition: $325

Directed by Dave Stockum, UMBC Goalkeeper Coach, this camp will focus on all aspects of goalkeeping, including commanding the box, shot blocking, taking proper angles, positioning, handling crosses, distribution, and communication.


McDonogh Premier Soccer Program: Girls Team Training Camp

Ages: Girls 13 to 18
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: July 24 to July 28
Tuition: $325

Directed by Harry Canellakis, McDonogh Girls Varsity Head Coach, this camp is a great opportunity for high school and club teams to train as a group with their coach and a member of our staff. Teams will work on all areas of the game in preparation for their upcoming season. Coaches will benefit from morning meetings to discuss session planning, season planning, fitness work, and injury prevention techniques. The McDonogh Girls Varsity soccer team was ranked as the No. 1 high school program in the country in 2014 and 2015 and has won the IAAM “A” Conference Championship—considered one of the best high school soccer conferences in the country—five out of the last six years.


McDonogh Girls Basketball Camp

Ages: Girls entering grades 4 to 9
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: June 19 to June 23
Dates: June 26 to June 30
Tuition: $325 per week

Directed by McDonogh Varsity Girls Basketball Coaches Terri Stellwagen and Brad Rees, this camp is designed to improve the skills of all players, regardless of ability level. Skill development, individual competitions, team play, and fun will all be emphasized as players build the foundation necessary to compete in middle school and high school. The staff will include college and high school coaches and players.


McDonogh Girls Lacrosse Camp: General Skills

Ages: Girls 6 to 14
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: June 19 to June 23
Tuition: $325

The General Skills Camp is designed for players who range from beginner to three years experience and who are interested in focusing on improving their basic skills and general positional skill development. Players will also receive instruction on position specific skills. Coaches will have vast experience in coaching at a variety of levels.

Camp will be directed by Ceri Miller, newly named Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach of Wofford College. Miller recently wrapped up her third third season as the head coach of the women’s lacrosse program at Goucher College in Maryland.

In 2015, Miller guided the Gophers to an 11-7 record for their first winning season since 2006. The team reached the semifinals of the conference tournament, the best finish since the 2004 season. Miller and assistant Kristen Bilney were named Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

Prior to joining Goucher, Miller served as an assistant coach at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania from 2010-2013. While with the Red Devils, she was involved with all aspects of the program, with a focus on the development and coordination of the defensive unit and goalkeepers. Miller coached seven all-conference and five all-region players during her time at Dickinson.


McDonogh Girls Lacrosse Camp: Advanced Skills

Ages: Girls 6 to 14
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: June 19 to June 23
Tuition: $325

The Advanced Skills Camp is designed for players who have more than three years of experience and who demonstrate strong basic skills. Players will be challenged with high level instruction on tactics, strategy, and game-like play. Players will increase knowledge in all positions in order to reach the next level for their age group.

McDonogh Head Varsity Softball and Riviera Beach Spirit 18U Coach John Folfas, directs this camp, and is assisted by a staff of current and former high school and college players. This camp is for all ability levels and the emphasis will be to instruct players on the basic skills needed for playing at the next level, while having fun. The camp will consist of teaching proper techniques of throwing, fielding, defense, base running, bunting, slapping, and hitting. Players will have the opportunity to display their talents through various competitions and daily controlled scrimmages.

Campers must bring a glove, bat, cleats, tennis shoes, and helmet.


McDonogh Softball Camp: Advanced Skills

Ages: Girls 10 to 15
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: June 19 to June 23
Tuition: $325

Designed for the travel or club softball player, this camp is directed by John Folfas, McDonogh Head Varsity Softball and Riviera Beach Spirit 18U Coach. Emphasis will be to prepare athletes for high school and advanced levels of competition through individual and team development. Current and former college players will provide daily instruction in a variety of offensive and defensive skills. Campers have the opportunity to showcase their talents through controlled games and various competitions throughout the week. This is a great camp to sharpen your skills before your next tournament or upcoming Nationals.

Campers must bring a glove, bat, cleats, tennis shoes, and helmet.


McDonogh Eagle Volleyball Camp

Ages: Girls 10 to 17
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: July 3 to July 7 (Independence Day Week)
Tuition: $260

Directed by McDonogh Head Varsity Volleyball Coach Ginger Gelston, the Eagle Volleyball Camp is designed for girls of all skill levels. Players will be instructed in the fundamentals as well as the rules and strategies of the game. Focus will be on skill development appropriate to each player’s ability and level. Players will participate in competitive activities designed to improve techniques and confidence. No volleyball experience is necessary.



McDonogh Field Hockey Camp

Ages: Girls 8 to 15
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: July 10 - July 14
Tuition: $325

The McDonogh Girls' Field Hockey Camp is designed for players whose goal is to develop a competitive spirit as well as technique. McDonogh Field Hockey Coach Jan Kunkel and her experienced staff will provide campers with instruction, games, stick work practices, tactical offensive and defensive strategies, and encouragement.

Each camper plays an equal amount of time in games, and staff members are available to give individual attention. Competitive and teamwork experiences will occur on the field and in the Henry A. Rosenberg, Jr. Aquatic Center.

Both novice and experienced players are welcome. Campers from the same school or from the same recreation or club team may practice and play together throughout the week—please note this on your child’s application form. All campers are required to bring their own water bottle/jug, stick, mouth and shin guards. Goalies must bring their own equipment.
