McDonogh Premier Soccer Program: Boys Summer Camp

Ages: Boys 6 to 15
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This camp is co-directed by McDonogh Boys Varsity Head Coach and Director of Coaching for the Baltimore Celtic SC Brandon Quaranta (two time Maryland State Coach of the Year, three USYSA Club National Championships) and McDonogh Varsity Assistant Head Coach and Baltimore Celtic SC coach Jack Quaranta. This camp is designed for soccer players of all levels and is structured around the fundamentals that established McDonogh’s nationally ranked boys program.

Younger players will learn basic skills, techniques, and simple concepts of the game. The more elite players will learn the core technical and tactical principles that are synonymous with McDonogh Soccer.

Campers will have fun learning the game and acquiring skills that will help them reach their soccer potential. The staff will also include some of the area’s best college and MIAA high school coaches and professional players


McDonogh Premier Soccer Program:
Boys Goalkeeper Camp

Ages: Boys 8 to 16
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: July 10 to July 14

Directed by McDonogh Boys Varsity Head Coach Brandon Quaranta, the camp will feature William Valenza, current professional goalkeeper for the Baltimore Blast and former Brazilian and Italian professional club player. Valenza is also the goalkeeper coach for the Johns Hopkins University Men’s Soccer Program and is the GK coach for the Baltimore Celtic SC. The camp will focus on all aspects of goalkeeping, including commanding the box, shot blocking, taking proper angles, positioning, handling crosses, distribution, and communication.

Boys Striker Camp

Ages: Boys 8 to 16
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: July 10 to July 14
Tuition: $325

Directed by McDonogh Boys Varsity Head Coach Brandon Quaranta and staffed by a number of the area’s best college and MIAA high school coaches and professional players, this camp is structured and designed to teach strikers the art of "finishing." It will focus on movement in and around the box, goal scoring positioning, losing defenders, diagonal runs, finishing technique, and goal scoring (not just shooting).

Boys Midfielder Camp

Ages: Boys 8 to 16
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: July 10 to July 14

Directed by McDonogh Boys Varsity Head Coach Brandon Quaranta and staffed by a number of the area’s best local college and MIAA high school coaches and professional players, this camp is structured and designed to teach midfielders the nuances of great midfield play. It will focus on movement with and without the ball, creativity, box-to-box play, field vision, transition play, and offensive/defensive midfield tactics.

Boys Defender Camp

Directed by McDonogh Boys Varsity Head Coach Brandon Quaranta and staffed by a number of the area’s best college and MIAA high school coaches and professional players, this camp is structured and designed to teach defenders the nuances of great defending. It will focus on proper positioning, field awareness, individual defending, team defending, tackling, and proper defensive communication.

Boys Team Training Camp

Ages: Boys 8 to 16
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Directed by McDonogh Boys Varsity Head Coach Brandon Quaranta and staffed by a number of the area’s best college and MIAA high school coaches and professional players, this camp is structured and designed to assist existing recreational, travel, and club teams in all areas of the game. One of our college level or high school coaching staff will coordinate with the respective team coaches in advance and plan daily sessions that will target those areas that need to be improved and developed based on the coaches' and teams' requirements.

Boys General Technical Skills Camp

Half-Day Tennis/Half-Day Soccer

Ages:: Boys 6 to 15

This camp is designed to give participants an opportunity to play both sports within one week. Under the direction of our Tennis Camp Director, Ben Rabin, and our Soccer Camp Director, Brandon Quaranta, players will attend the General Skills Tennis Camp in the morning, enjoy lunch in our air-conditioned dining hall, and then transition to the Soccer Camp in the afternoon.


McDonogh Traditional Baseball School I

Ages: Boys 8 to 12
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Matt Tuneski, McDonogh's Head Varsity Baseball Coach and All-Conference four-year player at Dickinson College, brings years of experience and success teaching and coaching players of all ages. The program is geared toward all ability levels, integrating high-quality instruction with the McDonogh Baseball philosophy of team spirit and cooperation. The goal of the camp is to teach and drill the individual fundamentals of baseball and concepts of team play. In addition to playing games in McDonogh's newly renovated stadium, players will train and practice in outdoor and indoor batting ranges and benefit from multiple-station instruction.

The McDonogh Lacrosse Academy

Ages: Boys 6 to 14
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The McDonogh Lacrosse Academy is a tremendous opportunity for both inexperienced and experienced lacrosse players to grow and improve their abilities on the lacrosse field. McDonogh’s Varsity Boys Lacrosse Coaches, Andy Hilgartner and Trey Whitty, direct this camp and are assisted by a staff of top high school coaches and college/high school players. Each day, players will be divided by position with an emphasis on individual development through positional work and skills training. Players will then come together for transitional game drills, settled offense and defense concepts and drills, and full field scrimmaging. Players will be challenged to attack their weaknesses on the lacrosse field in an effort to develop their all-around abilities.

The morning session of camp will primarily focus on the lacrosse-specific training mentioned above, while campers will have time in the afternoons to experience all else that McDonogh School offers. Activities may include water games, swimming, fishing, lacrosse movie time, and fun lacrosse-related skill games. This camp will offer a well-rounded experience that focuses on summer fun and growth as a lacrosse player and person!

Campers must provide their own equipment that includes helmet, mouthpiece, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, stick, and cleats.


Maryland Future Champs Wrestling Camp

Ages: Boys 7 to 17
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: June 26 - June 30
Tuition: $325

Directed by McDonogh Head Varsity Wrestling Coach and NCAA All-American Pete Welch, this program is designed for the beginner as well as the advanced wrestler. All wrestlers will be grouped by age, weight, and skill level. Each group will learn new techniques taught by top college and high school coaches and wrestlers. Time will also be devoted to review, drilling, and live wrestling. The final afternoon session will consist of a tournament where wrestlers can test their newly learned skills.


Mighty Mites Novice Wrestling Camp

Ages: Boys 5 to 8
Hours: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Dates: June 26 - June 30

(Transportation and lunch are not available)

Directed by McDonogh Head Varsity Coach and NCAA All-American Pete Welch, boys will learn beginner wrestling techniques and skills, as well as participate in games and activities that will enhance their learning .


McDonogh Football Camp 1 & 2

Directed by McDonogh Head Varsity Football Coach Dominic Damico, this is a non-contact football camp with no pads or helmets used. Designed for novices as well as experienced players, the camp will offer a week of instruction and fundamental skill development.




Rising Star Boys Basketball

Ages: Boys 8 to 15

Directed by McDonogh Head Varsity Boys' Basketball Coach TJ Jordan, these two camps stress both fundamentals and fun. Each morning will consist of station work emphasizing fundamentals such as ball handling, passing, shooting, moving without the ball, and rebounding. In the afternoon, each camper will be placed on a 5-on-5 team that will compete in an eight-team division. Each team will have its own coach, and divisions will be separated by age and ability level.

Housed in the Rollins-Luetkemeyer Athletic Center, with 5 full courts and 16 baskets, Rising Star offers a tremendous opportunity for players of all ages and skill levels to reach their fullest potential.
