The concluding sentence of McDonogh School's mission statement reads as follows: "Embracing diversity of background, culture, and thought, the school builds upon its founder's original mission to provide life-altering opportunities and to develop in students the will 'to do the greatest possible amount of good.'" McDonogh strives to create a learning environment that reflects its richly diverse community through special events, guest lectures, extra-curricular activities, and an inclusive curriculum.
Founded on the virtues of labor, patience, wisdom, honor, truth, and love, McDonogh is dedicated to developing each student's potential, fostering excitement and joy in learning, and ensuring our school community an experience based on mutual respect and kindness. In so doing, we reflect our commitment to diversity to the world at large.
It is the goal of the Office of Diversity Affairs to ensure that students and families from diverse backgrounds feel valued and supported at McDonogh. By creating an environment where understanding and affinity help to maintain and fortify diversity, we work to empower and celebrate the individual and the community.
