Seventh and eighth grade students will have an opportunity to represent McDonogh on interscholastic and intramural athletic teams in specific sports for each of the three athletic seasons. M.S. athletics is an extension of the academic day, where coaches will teach teamwork, sportsmanship, fundamental athletic skills, and physical fitness. The emphasis is on having fun.
M.S. athletics take place during the last two periods of the school day, from 2:30-3:45 p.m., Monday through Thursday. All seventh and eighth graders are required to be present and participate.
Interscholastic athletic teams compete after school against other independent, public, and club middle school teams. Games are played after school, Monday-Friday. Students participating on an interscholastic team are expected to attend all games scheduled for that team.
