The Middle School advisory program provides a network that allows students, faculty, and administration to work together to help students fulfill goals for self-discovery and personal growth. Each student has a faculty advisor and is part of a small advisor group that meets on a daily basis. Each group will discuss age-appropriate topics concerned with school awareness, self-assessment, self-management, interacting with others, and making decisions thoughtfully and intelligently. School and community issues are also discussed, and grade level programs are planned throughout the year.
The emphasis of the advisory program is to develop one-to-one relationships between an advisor and an advisee. These relationships can affect change in a school by continually keeping the school in touch with the feelings, attitudes, concerns, and needs of each student. This system aids Middle School students in developing their relationships with each other, their feelings about themselves, and their ability to use good judgment.
