History of Western Art

(year course)

This course is open to all students interested in the impact of the arts and how it influences daily life. It surveys art and architecture from Greece to the present day, exploring the major contributions to western culture. The first term covers the Greek/Roman Art up to the Renaissance. The second term covers the Late Renaissance through the Impressionists and the third term covers Post Impressionists up to the present day. There is a text and students will be informed through lectures, slide presentations, studio projects and field trips.
